She was born in Oneonta in 1928 to Clarence and Elizabeth (Jester) Cope.
Joyce married Clayton G. Utter in 1945. They were together for 64 years, raising six children.
She has been pre-deceased by her husband, Clayton; her daughter, Rita Strobeck, and her son-in-law, Floyd Strobeck, as well as five brothers and three sisters.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Doris Robinson; her children, Jackie (I.G.) Dent, Wade (Irene) Utter, Dean (Jackie) Utter, Cynthia Utter, and Mark (Laurie) Utter, as well as 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Joyce had many hobbies, including puzzles, sewing, decorating, and watching NASCAR, the New York Giants, and the New York Yankees.
She loved watching her grandchildren play sports, and one of her most favorite pastimes was taking car trips with her husband and children. She loved her flowers and gardening. Her great sense of humor was well known to all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Fox Nursing Home staff for their love and care of Joyce over the past four plus years.
Joyce will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Clayton, with a private family ceremony in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
