Born at Fox Hospital in Oneonta, John was known for his intelligence, charm, wit, and, above all, his loving heart.
John was raised by his devoted grandmother, Marie Ianotti, and his parents Sandra and William Crotts. He is survived by his beloved children, Annemarie and Ryan Crotts, dear family friend James Loudon and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Though separated, John remained close to his ex-wife, Alison Crotts, with whom he shared 16 years together and maintained a deep bond.
A proud 1999 graduate of Laurens High School, John was a recipient of the Clark Foundation scholarship, which helped him pursue higher education at SUNY Oneonta, where he graduated with honors in 2004.
John was a dedicated employee of McDonald’s, where he worked from the age of 17, rising to the role of General Manager of the Oneonta Southside location. His professional journey was marked by passion and excellence. As an outstanding manager, John earned numerous accolades, including seven Outstanding Restaurant Manager awards and the prestigious Ray Kroc Award in 2010, the highest honor bestowed within the McDonald’s Corporation. He took great pride in his work and mentored countless young employees, guiding many from their first job to leadership roles in larger companies. John was an integral part of the Oneonta community and was adored by all who knew him.
John had a passion for fishing, football (especially the Packers), playing poker, and enjoying the company of friends and family. He was a devoted father to his two children, who will miss him dearly, and his love for them was limitless. His quick wit and humor made him a joy to be around, and his big heart left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
John had an incredible ability to make those around him feel valued and cherished. His absence will be felt deeply, but his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
