He was born on September 5, 1943 in Schenevus to Otho and Helen (Garrett) Cook.
Henry attended school in Worcester and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his valor in Vietnam.
After serving his country, Henry drove a plow truck for the Town of Worcester Road Dept. for “38 years, 1 month and 4 days” until retiring in 2005.
Henry, a lifelong Otsego County resident had many friends and was often referred to as “Hank”, “Murdock”, and “The Mayor of Portlandville” (where he resided for 28 years).
After retiring, Henry kept busy with odd jobs, American Legion, volunteering at church suppers, crafting and riding his prize winning Royal Blue trike.
Henry is survived by his wife, Angel Cook of Oneonta; sons, David Cook of Worcester, Daniel Cook of Worcester and Timothy Cook of Worcester; step sons, Jevon Corban of Nashua, N.H., Tighe (Ellen) Corban of Sidney, Destin Gecik of Oneonta, and Mike (Terry) Mulkins of Milford; grandson, Jody Mulkins of Worcester; sisters, Barbara Rifenburgh of Oneonta and Carol Johnson of Catskill; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Henry was predeceased by his parents and brothers, John Cook and Leland Cook.
Military services will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 9:00 AM.
