She was born October 10, 1935 in Manhattan the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Carmela (Gianchetti) DeMarfio.
Gracie graduated from Washington Irving High School and went on to the Art Students League where she became an accomplished artist. While attending art school she worked for Norcross Cards in NYC
She then took over the family business, Demarfio’s Restaurant, Main Street, Fleischmanns and operated that for many years. Even while running the restaurant, Gracie still was very much into her art.
Gracie married Ronald Seifert on February 14, 1991. Ronald predeceased her in 2002.
But the most important part of her life was her family. She was a wonderful mother and later became a doting grandmother. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren. Gracie was also very fortunate enough for several years to visit her son, James in Germany and live with him for 6 months out of the year.
Gracie is survived by her 3 children, Angela and Bill Eardley, Oneonta, James and DellaTorre and Anette Peiszan of Staufen, Germany and Catherine and Anthony Porco, Yorktown Heights and their father, Angelo DellaTorre; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly and Glen Sawyer, Vernon, CT, Anthony Eardley, Yonkers, NY, Alva , Alexandria, Celena and Tyler Eardley, Oneonta, Benjamin and Marlen Peiszan, Staufen, Germany, and Anthony and Michael Porco, Yorktown Heights NY, sister-in-law, Lorraine DeMarfio, Pine Hill; two nieces, Mildred Giangrasso, Lindenhurst and Catherine Cortese, Staten Island; two great nephews, Anthony and Paul Giangrasso; two great nieces, Nicole and Alexandra Cortese; Phyllis Sangetti and the entire Sangetti family of Oneonta and FL; sister-in-law, Barbara DellaTorre of Brooklyn NY, as well as several nieces and nephews in the DellaTorre family; special friends, Elizabeth Lynch, Oneonta and Annette and Joe LaPine, Otego; and her four legged family, Poetta and Josie. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Catherine Carruccio and brother, Eustace "Sonny" DeMarfio.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta with the Reverend Teresa Sivers officiating. Following the service there will be a celebration of Gracie’s life in the fellowship hall.
