She was born October 20, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the Bronx, in the shadow of Yankee Stadium by her parents, John Lennon and Frieda Kappel Lennon.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Frank, son John, brothers Charles Lennon and John Lennon, and sisters Rita Lennon and Margaret Lennon.
She is survived by daughter Barbara Calabrese, daughter-in-law Linda Insetta, four grandchildren: Jennifer Insetta (Jamie Reynolds), John-Michael (Teri) Insetta, Jessica (Richard) Insetta Frie and Jeremy (Kristie Hardin) Insetta; andgrandson-in-law Ralph Pajerski.
She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Michael Frie, John-Austin Insetta Pajerski, Brittanie Frie, Kasey Pajerski, Andrew Pajerski, Anthony Frie, Kiera Insetta, Nicole Insetta, John-Michael Insetta, Jr., Camryn Insetta, James Insetta, Sophia Insetta and Meaghan Insetta. Evelyn was further blessed with two great-great-grandsons: Aiden and John Frie.
She was active in St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served as a former member of the Parish Council and as a member of the Rosary Society. She was an instrumental part of the creation of the Religious Education program, and prepared countless Oneonta children for their sacraments.
The family wishes to thank the staff of AO Fox Nursing Home, Unit 2, who cared for her lovingly as their own and her dear friend, Vivien Nelson who provided Evelyn and the family with love and spirituality, especially in her final days.
"Nana-Banana" loved her family above all, and was a true blessing to everyone who crossed her path.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, from 5-7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 30, 2019 at St Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta, at 10:15 AM.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
