She was born November 30, 1936 in Oneonta: the daughter of the late Albert and Marie (Squier) Weidman.
Betty was a nutrition aide at Cooperative Extensions, and from 1983 to her retirement in 2003, she was a homemaker for Otsego County Department of Social Services. Both of these jobs highlighted her nurturing personality.
Betty will be remembered for the respect, compassion, and unyielding kindness she showered upon everyone. To know Betty was to understand what true grace and integrity looked like as she illustrated these qualities throughout her life.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards at her dining room table and loved her weekly outings with the “lunch bunch.” When at home, you could find Betty watching the Hallmark Channel, talking on the phone with her cousin Nancy, or possibly listening to the music of Johnny Mathis.
Betty was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Senior Group.
Betty is survived by her children: Annemarrie and John Winchester, Oneonta; Robert (“Rusty”) and Karen Haney, Stephens City, VA; and Barbara and Donald Ungerland, Franklin, NY; grandchildren, Kyle Haney, Sterling, VA; Phillip and Angelina Hall, Boaz, AL; and Christopher Hall, Sayre, PA; great grandchildren: Ethan Hall, Christopher John (“CJ”) Hall, Broc Michael Hall, and Evealynn Hall; and great great-grandchild, Paisley Hall. Betty was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Nelson Short.
