Effie Swire Ettlinger

Effie was born in Utica, N.Y. in 1918 and along with her late husband, Julius (Bill) Ettlinger, moved to Oneonta in 1943. She had attended SUCO when it was known as the State Normal School . Effie was a substitute teacher in the Oneonta Public Schools, a longtime volunteer at Fox Memorial Hospital, and an active member of Temple Beth-El’s Sisterhood. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Lois and Barry Perlman, Jonas and Emily Ettlinger and Susan and Ludwig Furtner as well as six grandchildren, Carrie, Marc, Jared (Diana), Rebecca (Bret Waltz), Kate and Sam and two great-grandchildren, Maia and Siena.

A graveside service will be held at Temple Beth-El Cemetery, Emmons, NY, at noon on Tuesday, November 8. Donations may be made to (The Eddy), Northeast Health Foundation, 2224 Burdett Avenue, Troy, NY, 12180.
