She was born March 17, 1943, in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Myrtle (Sarrge) Barnes.
On Aug. 8, 1961, Donna married Harry Chambers in Oneonta. Harry predeceased her on Jan. 5, 1984.
For 35 years, Donna worked at Price Chopper in Oneonta before her retirement.
Donna enjoyed her home where she lived for more than 55 years. She loved taking photos of family and friends that are in more than 60 photo albums that she started in 1961. Donna loved Christmas time, her mini Christmas village of more than 70 houses that she enjoyed with her great granddaughter and Lights on the Lake in Liverpool, New York. She also traveled to New York City to see the Rockettes. She loved to travel, visiting Clearwater and Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Disney World, the Great Lakes and going on cruises to the Bahamas. She looked forward to family reunions in Waddington, New York, camping in the Adirondacks at New York state campgrounds. She especially loved camping at North Hampton Beach, Lewey Lake, Lake Harris, Verona Beach, Fish Creek Pond and Blue Jay Campsite in Tupper Lake, always stopping along the way in Long Lake to have her favorite garlic fries. She also enjoyed visits to the Lake George area. She cheered for the Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and attended many country music concerts and festivals. She visited Nashville and the Grand Ol' Opry, attended Yankee games, many NASCAR races, the New York State Fair and the Big E. She looked forward to Memorial Day lawn sales with her niece Patty, visits from "Frenchy" Janet Kostbar, and her cousin Denny from Texas. Donna loved lilac bushes, planting flowers, and home-cooked meals. She had a love for animals, leaving behind her cat Coocoo.
Donna is survived by four children, Brenda Chambers and Louis Ploutz Senior, Mount Vision, Jeff Chambers and Karen Pasternak, Oneonta, Alan Chambers and Joanna Parliman, Oneonta, and Aaron Chambers, his cats Harold and Arthur Oneonta; three grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua Samphier, Louis Ploutz Jr., and Trevor Ploutz; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Samphier; brother-in-law, John and Mary Jane Chambers, Waddington; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is now at peace with her husband, Harry, and her mother, Myrtle.
Private graveside services will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen D. Fournier officiating.
