He was born on December 18, 1942 in Oneonta, the son of Donald C. and Geraldine W. (Timewell) Hulbert.
Ceylon was employed at Molinari’s Restaurant as a chef for many years. He enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling and was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. He also loved to hunt with his father and brothers. Most of all, Ceylon was very proud of his daughters and grandchildren. He loved getting together with his family at holidays and spending time at the Hulbert Pond.
Ceylon is survived by his daughters, Kathy L. Dvoracek of Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, Sandra L. VanDuesen (Richard Hoffman) and her children, Patrick, Kaleb, and Jacob, of West Oneonta, Pamela “Pam” S. (Brian) Bouchard of Latham, and Deborah “Debbie” R. (Jim) Ronca of Ballston Spa; many grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Sandra Faulkner and Priscilla (Russell) Galbreth, Charles W. (Brenda) Hulbert and Donald “Gary” (Pat) Hulbert, all of Laurens; his brother-in-law, Ronald Wikoff of Oneonta and several nieces, nephews and many friends including Jon and Dawn. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Ceylon was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Paula J. Wikoff, and his brother-in-law, James Faulkner.
Friends may call from 11 am to 1pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Bookhout Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Messner, Pastor of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Laurens, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cook Cemetery, West Oneonta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Ceylon’s memory to the Laurens American Legion Post 1688, Main Street, Laurens, NY 13796.
