Carol K West

Carol West, 90, of Oneonta, NY passed away peacefully in her beloved home with her children surrounding her on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Born on June 7, 1932 to William ‘Ira’ Kaples and Roberta Kaples in Ilion, NY, Carol graduated from Mohawk High School in 1950. In 1951 Carol married William ‘Bill’ West in Mohawk and had seven wonderful children before moving to their home in Oneonta. She and Bill owned and operated Nationwide Insurance Agency in Oneonta for many years. Carol enjoyed traveling in their motor home, cooking for her family, baking the best cookies, vacations to Sandbridge Beach but most of all her family and “little sweethearts”.

Carol is survived by her 7 children and their spouses, Michele (David) Kiser of Gulfport, MS. Debra (John) Catella of Daytona Beach, FL. William (Natali) West of Unadilla, NY, Janet (Pete) Douglass of Danville, KY, Steven (Karla) West of Oneonta, NY, David (Pamela) West of Davisburg, MI, and Sandra (Mark) Gaisford of Otego, NY, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. Carol was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, 2 brothers, William and Charles, and a sister, Barbara.

Private services will be held for the immediate family in April.
