She was born in Brooklyn on April 2, 1925, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Reiderer) Klemm. She married Julian M. Robinson on February 3, 1946 in Queens, and he passed away on August 9, 1994.
Amanda and her family lived in Ozone Park, Queens, for many years before moving to Milford and later Davenport, NY. For the past nine years Amanda enjoyed being a resident of Nader Towers where she had many friends and spent evenings playing Bingo, Pokeno, and card games.
Amanda was a homemaker and had also worked for Astrocom and the Charlotte Valley Central School in Davenport. She was a loving mother, Grandma, Nana, Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Amanda always had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to joke around and shared her smile and laughter with everyone she met. She shared her husband’s passion for harness racing. She enjoyed working in the paddock, preparing the horses for races at Vernon Downs and Monticello Raceway. Amanda loved making crafts, crocheting and knitting for her family. Sundays at “the farm” in Davenport were always happy times for Amanda, Julian and her family.
She is survived by her children, Catherine and husband Howard Miller of Milford, James and wife, Judi Robinson, Richland, WA, Gerard (Jerry) and wife Diane Robinson of Milford, Caroline and husband Mark Finne of Davenport, her son-in-law, Joseph Ballard of Davenport.
Her ten grandchildren, Jamie (Ryan) Crawford, Tobie (Brandi) Robinson, Jason (Sofia) Robinson, Christine (David) Kerr, Casandra K. (James) Sabellico, Elizabeth M. Miller, Joseph Ballard, Michael Ballard, Matthew and Ryan Finne; her four great grandchildren, Ryan James Crawford, Victoria Guerrero, Jaden Robinson, and Lillian Kerr; her brothers-in-law, Jack (Millie) Herron of Rhinebeck, Robert Herron of Sauquoit, William (Jean) Herron of Bainbridge; her long time friend, Ellie McPartlin, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn R. Ballard and her brothers, Gerard Klemm and Joseph Klemm, Sr.
She was a member of St. Mary’s RC Church and the Milford American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1566.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM at which time the family will be in attendance.
