William Walters was born February 1, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska and entered into rest June 21, 2019.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elisabeth Walters, and father Raymond Walters. He is survived by his daughter Carmen Walters Bailey and family, sister Mary Kjeldgaard (Howard), brother John Walters, large extended family with many nieces and nephews.
Bill served in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve from November 12, 1965 to November 16, 1971. After enlistment and initial training in the Navy, he saw 3 years of sea duty serving on the USS Suffolk County. After his active duty discharge, he transferred to the United States Naval Reserve. After his Navy service, Bill worked in the horse racing industry. During leave from the racetrack, he worked as a painter in Omaha while caring for his mother. After her passing, he returned to the racetrack, retiring due to health problems. He enjoyed gardening, watching Nebraska football, and spending time with friends; he loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Bill passed away after a long and debilitating illness.
VISITATION: Saturday, June 29, 2019, 9:30-10:30am, with a FUNERAL SERVICE at 10:30am, all at the Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, Omaha, NE. Interment: Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha, NE.
