Stephen Kelly Sariscsany was born on January 27th, 1981 to Colleen & Jim Sariscsany in Flagstaff, Arizona. He spent the first 3 years of his life in Grand Canyon, AZ and arrived in Omaha in 1984. His siblings include Natalie & Chuck Wagner, Ned Sariscsany, and Laurel Sariscsany. His nieces are Ireland and Scarlett Wagner. His grandparents were Martha & Harley Kelly and Florence & Steve Sariscsany. Uncles are Ray & Gil Kelly, Larry Sariscsany, John Chesire, and Dale Sariscsany. Aunts include Lynne Chesire, Mary Jo Sariscsany, and Cara Sariscsany. Cousins are Ron (Elizabeth) Nelson, Erin (Justin) Burke, Kaki Kelly, Eric (May) Hiddleston, Kevin (Cristina) Hiddleston, Amy (Joe) Fruehwald, Heather (Brandon) Hobgood, Connor (Lindsey) Sariscsany, Alyssa Sariscsany, and Tyler Sariscsany. Stevie’s chosen family also include numerous friends from Saint Cecilia’s, First Baptist Church, Lewis & Clark, North High, Great Western Bank, Cass Street, Capitol Avenue, UNO, Old Dundee Bar and Grill, the airport, Proxibid, Barber College, and Ascension Barber Shop.
He went by Stephen, Steve, Steve-o, Stevie, Cooka, Porkchop, and between brothers, Buttercup. He had a passion for music, cooking, podcasts, friends, social justice, making people laugh, all things sports (especially the North High Vikings, the Huskers, Detroit Tigers, Creighton basketball, and the Boston Red Sox, just to name a few), shoes, and knowing the right answer. The 2007 loss of Ned was devastating for all and Steve in particular. Although our sorrow is deep and we know this isn’t what Steve had planned, the thought of our two beloved brothers reuniting brings some consolation. Stevie’s laugh could fill up a room, and now that room is quiet. All of our lives feel immeasurably emptier without him.
