Ron was raised in Omaha, Nebraska, by his parents, Fred and Clara Keller, whom he cherished and respected. As the eldest child, Ron became responsible, independent and had a strong work ethic at a very young age. He was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with him throughout his life. Ron had one sister, Susan, and three brothers, Roger, Randy and Fred. He graduated from Omaha North High School in 1961.
Ron married Sharon Frink on February 14, 1962 and they were blessed with two children, Baron and Ronda. They were also blessed with three grandchildren, Krystal, Christopher and Chana and many great grandchildren.
Ron worked for United Parcel Service in Omaha before he and Sharon started Continental Realty, where they sold homes and invested in rental property. He enjoyed being his own boss for most of his adult life.
Ron had an infectious smile. He was sociable and approachable, maintaining that "Everyone is my friend, I just have not met them yet." He was closest to his father and his brother Randy. He enjoyed telling jokes (sometimes racy) and was grateful for all of his friends, especially for his lifelong friends. In later years, he was very social, having coffee with his buddies in the morning and usually he had a lunch date with a friend in the afternoon. He loved life.
His passion was fishing. He had fond memories of his fishing trips with his father and Randy. Wyoming was one of his favorite places to visit and he dreamed of moving there once he retired.
Ron was a lover of animals and adored his pets. His dogs were his best friends, as they gave him so much love, joy and laughter. He spoiled all of his furry friends. He said his dogs were a blessing and would ask "What is dog spelled backwards?”
Ron passed away on May 9, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Waterloo, Nebraska. Over the past three years, Ron fought a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his children, Baron Keller and Ronda (Scott) Vencil; his grandchildren Krystal, Christopher and Chana; many great grandchildren; his sister Susan (Wes) McGinnis; his brothers Roger (Nina) Keller, Randy (Wanda) Keller and Fred (Paula) Keller; and many friends.
