Born in Papillion, NE, Roger graduated from Creighton University and married Grace Goldbeck in 1965. Over the course of four decades, Roger taught multiple subjects at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, IA. During this period, he was recognized for his excellence in teaching, and had a lasting influence on the lives of many students. During summers, he could inevitably be found outside on a ladder, painting houses, with his closest friend and fellow teacher, Bill Willard.
Roger is preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Chase, father Paul Kuhl and brother Charles. Roger is survived by his wife Grace; children Stephen (Pia), Jennifer (Mike), Vincent (Kara) all of Omaha, two grandchildren, Sean (Sarah) and Gabrielle, as well as siblings Joan, Charlotte, Jon, Mary, Kathy, Jerry and Deborah.
Roger was beautifully authentic and displayed the depths of his caring when it mattered most. He possessed an immutable determination towards what he considered the “small things” in life that were of greatest importance. His imperfections were evident, but underneath was a truly exceptional person; a person cherished and loved deeply as a husband, father and friend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Siena Francis House.
