Robert G. “Bob” Christensen, 89, of Omaha passed Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 in Omaha. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer and CHF and passed peacefully with his daughter by his side.
A visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St. in Omaha, from 4-6pm on Thursday, October 5th. Funeral Service will be at 10:30am on Friday, October 6th, also at Westlawn.
Bob was born September 14th, 1934, in Omaha, NE to Lloyd and Florence [nee Reis] Christensen.
He served in the Nebraska National Guard reserves from 1957-1963.
He married Karen McIntire and adopted a daughter, Laraine.
He worked for many years as a Stationary Engineer at Wilsons Meat Packing House where he met his second wife Ruth Oppelt. They had one daughter together, Sandra, and he helped to raise his step-children, Lori, Jeffery, and Brian. He later worked as Chief Engineer for Lutheran Medical Center (Later Methodist Health System), working his way to through many levels of management until he retired in 1999.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, working on projects around the house and finding time for games of pool and rounds of golf with his friends. Every year Bob looked forward to attending College World Series games.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lori Hemphill; sisters, Aldeane Winters and Ramona Ebert; and brother, Lloyd Christensen Jr.
Survivors include Daughter, Sandra Hull of Tampa, FL, Step-Sons Jeff Hemphill & Brian Hemphill of Omaha, Daughter Laraine Cole (Arlo) of Plattsmouth, NE; brother Raymond Christensen (Ann) of Omaha; Grand Children, Sam Hull, Lizzabeth Hull, Lydia Cole, Chandler Cole, Schuyler Hemphill, Brianna Hemphill, Michael Hemphill & Alec Hemphill; Great-Grandchildren Zackary Daniel, & Marleigh Hull. Additional survivors include many other extended family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all. Memorials to the family will be designated at a later time.
