He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Roosevelt Powell; his loving wife of nearly six decades, Eula Powell; siblings, Iola Ridgell, Ruben, Luther and Rufus Williams, and John Powell; and grandchild, Jerome Cook.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Celestine) Powell Jr, Valerie Cook, Justin (Vanessa) Powell, and Tiffany Powell; siblings, Celet Powell, and Melba Lawrence; grandchildren, Tanya, Jamica, Tyrone, Shakila, Felicia, Kendra, Prince, and Solomon; and great-grandchildren, Andres Lopez, Leticia Powell, Dante Coleman, and Demari Alexander.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A graveside service will occur Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 7909 Mormon Bridge Road, Omaha, Nebraska 68152.
