Richard Edwin “Dick” Levine, 84, of Omaha, died on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023. Dick was born April 2, 1938, to Edwin Wilhelm Henrich Levine and Ada Leona (Rasmussen) Levine. He attended South Sioux City High School where he enjoyed playing the trumpet and started his lifelong passion of woodworking. He graduated in 1956. After graduation and until his retirement, Dick worked in sales, cabinet making, and retail. Dick married Lois Goertz in 1960. They had four sons. The couple divorced in 1982. Dick married Edna Schmidt in 1989. They made their home in Omaha, where Dick remodeled their kitchen with his custom cabinets. They were married until her death in 2007. Dick enjoyed making unique woodworking pieces for family members. He enjoyed model railroading, especially Burlington Route steam locomotives. He was a volunteer at the Durham Museum during his retirement. He also enjoyed Husker football, big band music, bacon, telling stories, and spending time with his pet Shelties.
Dick is survived by his sons Douglas (Christine), Jeffrey (Marlene), and Craig (Debbie); brother Alvin (Carol); 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley (Dale) Johnson, and son Charles “Chuck” Levine.
Memorials should be directed to the Nebraska Humane Society.
