Nadene Kay Schell was born on November 4, 1941, in Long Beach, California, the third child of Clarence W. and Frieda E. (nee Brundieck) Cornett. She became a member of God's family through Holy Baptism on December 7,1941. She was united in marriage to Norman A. Schell, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 20, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Cornett family moved from California to a farm northwest of Pilger, Nebraska, when she was a young girl. She was a 1959 graduate of Pilger High School.
Nadene was most comfortable working in the background in a supporting role that did not shine the spotlight on herself. Although she primarily considered herself a mother and homemaker, she worked as secretary in church offices, a college, and a seminary. She was also an accomplished cook, and worked in numerous food service positions in high schools, colleges, and a summer camp.
Hobby and recreational interests through the years include sewing, baking, creating stain glass windows, crafts, camping, traveling, canoeing, gardening, and water aerobics.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Omaha, Nebraska, and served on the Altar Guild, was active in the Women's Guild, and led a weekly Women's Bible Study. She was active in the Organization of WELS Lutheran Seniors ("OWLS").
Survivors include her husband, Norman, sons Larry W. Schell (of Raymond, Nebraska) and Dr. Terry L. Schell, and his wife Sue (of Santa Monica, California); three grandchildren: Faith (Paul) Byrd, Zion Schell, and Katherine Schell; one sister, Carolin Hu (of Chadron, Nebraska), and brothers Wayne (Arvilla) Cornett (of Wisner, Nebraska), and Ronald (Karen) Cornett (of Kansas City, Kansas); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Nadene was called to her Heavenly reward May 25, 2024, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 21 days.
