Mike was born to John and Fran Filip December 18, 1959 in Omaha, Nebraska, and passed away March 12, 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mike joined the United States Air Force in 1978 and proudly served his country for 4 years. Mike loved his family and friends unequivocally. With his first wife he fathered two children, his son, Christopher, and daughter Gretchen. In October 2004 Mike married his soul-mate, Kristine, with whom he joyously shared the remaining years of his life. Mike worked hard and played hard. He liked to hunt, water ski, play basketball and ride his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Kristine, his parents, John and Fran, son Christopher and daughter-in-law, Elly, daughter Gretchen, step daughters, Kyla and Ashley Jerousek, brother Mark and sister-in-law Cindy, sister Mary Kay and brother-in-law Javier Garcia, four nieces, one nephew, one great-nephew, one step grand-daughter, and two step-great-granddaughters. If Mike had a motto it would be, “American by birth. Biker by choice.”
SERVICES: Saturday at 10:00 AM Crosby Burket Swanson Golden Funeral Home 11902 W Center Rd. Omaha, NE. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. VISITATION: Friday 3-8 pm, with family present 6-8 PM at Crosby Burket Swanson Golden Funeral Home with rosary at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations towards a memorial that will be designated later.
