She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rhoades; and parents, Carmella and Howard Avery.
She was a skilled seamstress and worked for many years at Douglas County Hospital. She helped countless families celebrate the milestones of their lives by crafting beautiful garments of satin and lace. Mary was known for her hospitality, an open door, and open heart. No one left her house hungry and she opened her home to anyone and everyone in need. She married the love of her life, Roy Rhoades, and they shared 58 years together.
She is survived by four daughters, Dawn Peters (Chris), Sabrina Dovenbarger (Keith), Crystal Rhoades (Benjamin Onkka), and Roz Rhoades (Christopher Dinovo); grandchildren, Holly (Bobby), Sarah, Bud, Bruce, Noah, Patrick, and Casey; and great-grandchildren, Lydia, Timothy, Lucas, and Emmy.
A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, with Rosary Service to begin at 7:00 PM. A memorial service will occur Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Mary will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 4912 Leavenworth St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
