Marla was deeply committed to her family, enjoying time with them often. Thirty years ago, her heart found purpose when she chose to spend her life with John or, as she called him, “better than a husband.”
The light of her life was her son Devin and his dog Scooby. They had an amazing bond, frequently spending an evening watching T. V. and having her favorite Dairy Queen treat.
Marla’s free-spirited soul enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets, Dairy Queen trips, motorcycle adventures, her HOG chapter, travel, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marlene Buthmann, brother, Gary Buthmann, father-in-law, John Hassell Sr. mother-in-law, Linda Ehresmann.
Here to cherish her memory include: Better than a Husband, John L Hassell Jr.; son, Devin D. Rimington; father, Merlin Buthmann; mother-in-law, Jean Hassell; brother, George (Robin) Buthmann; sister, Marcia (Mark) Buthmann; sisters-in-law, Christine (Troy) Crosby, Susie (Jim) Farley, and Jessie (Danny) Gindlesperger; brother-in-law Chris Hassell; nieces; Kayla (Dan) Dyche, Allyssa Buthmann, Jennifer Farley, Kaci Gindlesperger, and Marlee Farley; nephews, Wes (Kristin) Richmann, Gabe Buthmann, Matthew Anthony, Robert Farley, Julian Hassell, and Zach Gindlesperger; and grandpuppy, Scooby Rimington.
