Lois M. Hector

Lois was born in Barada, Nebraska on August 28, 1930, the second child of Louie and Ella (Steinbrink) Stanley. She grew up in the farming communities of Southeast Nebraska. Lois graduated from Stella High School in 1947 and went on to take secretarial training.

Lois worked at L.G. Doup Company in Omaha until she married Robert W. (Bob) Hector in 1952. Lois and Bob lived in Auburn, NE. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Denise Marie, David Robert, Susan René, Alane Christine, and Jeffrey Charles.

Lois and Bob lived in Auburn, Falls City and Omaha. Lois worked as a Fuller Brush salesperson, a Hinky-Dinky deli clerk, and a baker at Brandeis, Younkers and the Market Basket. In 1987, Lois and Bob started driving a tractor-trailer for Werner Enterprises. They traveled all around the United States. Lois sent postcards of the sights and brought back treasures.

Lois and Bob celebrated 40 years of marriage and retirement in 1992. After Bob died in 1994, Lois started volunteering for the Omaha symphony, the American Red Cross and the Master Gardener Program.

Lois’s faith in Jesus Christ was a central theme in her life. She was an active church member serving in women’s ministry, Bible study, Sunday school teacher and other capacities. Because of her faith, she reached out to many people and became friends with people from around the world. Lois loved her family. She visited them, prayed for them and sent cards and letters. Lois also loved square-dancing, walking, gardening and hosting sleepovers for her grandchildren.

In 2011 Lois moved to Remington Heights where she met new friends and enjoyed activities especially bingo and watching movies.

Lois passed away on Sunday January 13, 2013.She is survived by: sisters Elva Jean McNeely (Wayne), Doris Johnson, brothers Charles Richard Stanley, Keith (Joyce) Stanley, Children Denise (David) Timm, David (Beth) Hector, Susan (Pat) Ervin, Alane (Daryl) Nelson, and Jeffrey Hector, Grandchildren Matthew (Anne) Timm, Gretchen (Michael) Cox, Rachel Timm, Amanda (Chad) Knihal, Emily Timm, Amy (Zach) Scherb, Steven Hector, Kevin Hector, Michael Ervin, René Ervin, Jonathan Ervin, Luke Ervin, Hannah Ervin, Valerie Nelson, Kelley Nelson, Bridget Nelson, Ryan Hector, Benjamin Hector, Madison Hector, and Lillian Hector, and great-grandchildren Sarah Lewis, Elliot Timm, Audrey Timm, Alex Timm, Claudia Timm, Korynn Cox, Kaleb Cox, Marcus Cox, and Ella Mae Knihal.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louie Stanley and Ella Stanley, husband Robert W. Hector, sister Shirley Stowater, brothers-in-law Darrell Stowater, Ed Johnson, Edwin Berger, sisters-in law Jean Stanley, and Alberta Berger grandchildren Molly Hector and Peter Ervin.
