Lois was the oldest of eight children. She had 3 brothers, 2 died in infancy (Floyd & Lloyd), and Robert Cederburg of Pierce, NE (deceased); 4 sisters, Evelyn Kent of Omaha, NE, Delores Ratliff of Modesto,
CA; Betty Moss of Omaha, NE (deceased), and Patti Webster of South Sioux City, NE (deceased). She has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & great-nephews. A special niece, Janet (Kent) Beerman, was like her daughter.
Lois married Lyle Hansen on January 14, 1949 at Laurel. They had a son, Stephen Hansen (deceased). They lived in Creighton, Fremont, Omaha, and Norfolk, NE before moving to Bullhead City, AZ. Lois worked at the Golden Nugget Casino in Laughlin, NV as a hostess for over 20+ years. Lois loved having family come & visit when they were in town.
In her youth, she remembers moving around a lot. Her father was a truck driver who worked at the Creamery, and he also served in the Army during WWI (Rainbow Division- 2 yrs in Europe). Eva, her mother, was a baker & did odd jobs to support the family including housekeeping.
Lois enjoyed being around family and helping her sister, Evelyn with her big family when she they lived in Omaha. She enjoyed the farm they had in Norfolk. Janet used to spend several weeks every summer with Aunt Lois and she was kind of like her second mom growing up.
Lois loved dogs, especially dachshunds or any little dog for that matter. Janet used to take her Yorkie, Bella, up to see her in the early years & Aunt Lois loved it.
Aunt Lois loved her Pepsi… she said “water would rust your pipes." Even when she quit eating food and coffee, she still would drink her Pepsi.
Aunt Lois always joked and said she was a spook. She was anything but -- she was sweet, quick witted & very loving.
She had a tough life for several years, but she definitely knew she was loved. She will be forever in my heart.
A visitation for Lois will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
