Lisa is lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Dennis, her daughter, Emily Johnson (Pearson), Emily’s husband Mark, and their four children, Ben, Will, Teddy and Jack, her son Andrew (AJ) Pearson, AJ’s girlfriend Molly, her mother, Fran, and Lisa’s many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She is joined in rest by many loved ones lost before her, most notably her father, Kenny, and her mother-in-law, Gloria.
Born in Omaha on December 19th, 1959, the only child to parents Kenny and Fran Kuehl, Lisa was brought home from the hospital on Christmas Eve. Her parents built a home in a new neighborhood at 60th and Read streets. Lisa enjoyed her childhood growing up there with many friends and graduated Northwest High School. Lisa and Dennis met in Omaha, married on June 6th, 1981 at Omaha’s Mount Vernon Gardens, and shortly after made their home in the community of Ralston. Lisa’s dream was to become a mother and she and Dennis felt incredibly blessed to welcome daughter Emily and son Andrew. Lisa enjoyed a 30-year career with the Ralston Public Schools as a pre-school para-educator, and had a lasting impact on countless co-workers and kids. She had a special way of working with children at school. She often said, "It's all about the kids!" At age 52, she fought a separate cancer, and felt so fortunate to beat it and be able to go on to enjoy more of life’s blessings, including the births and childhoods of her four grandsons. Lisa was competitive, and very rarely lost a game of Scrabble...but was always happy to lose a game of Old Maid to her grandsons! Lisa enjoyed sharing novels with her mother and daughter, biking, being near the water, listening to live music with Dennis and their friends, and spending quality time with family. The apple of her eye was her grandsons, whom she doted on and who have been blessed with many memories of adventures and sleepovers with Grandma Lisa and Grandpa Pearson. She loved attending their many sporting events, reading to them, and playing board games with them. She enjoyed making birthdays and Christmas extra special. She and Dennis were looking forward to traveling as they began retirement together.
Lisa's loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, faith, and love in those whose lives she touched. She was wrapped in love during her illness and the gifts, messages, phone calls and visits she received during that time made her so happy.
Lisa’s family will welcome visitors at Westlawn-Hillcrest, on Wednesday, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, NE 68106, December 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and a funeral service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5015 S. 80th Street, Ralston, NE 68127, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
