Lawrence (Larry) Dale Kaiser was born December 4, 1937 to Mollie and Lawrence Kaiser. He had an older brother Gene, a younger brother Dennis and a younger sister Kathleen. He attended Tech High School in Omaha. A cousin set him up on a blind date where he met the love of his life, Harriette, and they embarked on a 68 year marriage. Becoming an Air Force family, the Kaiser's travelled to see some of the world. In addition to travel, they enjoyed playing cards, cooking, repairing clocks and some time square dancing with the Wheeling 8's Square Dance Club of Gretna with Charles and Louise Sanford (Harriette's Parents). While in the Air Force they had two children, Daughter Debra Lu, and Son Larry Jr.
Larry Sr. worked on navigation systems for fighter jets, missiles and other airplanes. He was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, California, and Washington State to name a few. After 22 years in the Air Force he retired, and not one to sit still, he worked many more jobs. He worked at World Homes Construction in Gretna, Cox Cable in Omaha, Kracht Plumbing, Trade Rule and Binding with his brother Dennis in Omaha, and Warrior Nine Golf Course at Offutt AFB. He also spent time with his son and daughter helping on the Sanford farm over the years.
Larry Sr. enjoyed a variety of other activities and interests. He loved classical music and reading. He enjoyed golfing with friends, his brothers, father-in-law and his son over the years.
Bowling was the number one favorite activity. In his later bowling career, after having a heart stent, an aortic aneurysm stent, colon removal, two knee replacements, a hip replacement. shoulder surgery, wrist surgery, and having COPD didn't stop him from bowling.
He was around 7 years old when his Mom taught him to bowl, later in the 1950's he was a pin setter with his brother Dennis in Omaha. In the 1960's his brother Dennis and him bowled sweepers at the Rose Bowl trying to qualify for the Strike it Lucky tv show. Dennis made the show once! Larry bowled at many of the bases while in the Air Force. Larry Senior's best bowling scores were 8-300 games and an 803 series. Being a bowler had a great benefit.
