Larry was born in Omaha, NE on June 20, 1941 and raised in Exeter, NE by Mildred and Harold Schneider. He attended Exeter High School where he was a 3-sport athlete and band member. He broke the school long jump record, which he will forever hold as the school retired the existing records when they merged with Milligan. As a band member he received 5 superior ratings as a solo trumpet player.
Larry joined the Army after graduating high school. After advanced training he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a member of the Army band at Fort Bragg playing various brass instruments, the trumpet being his favorite instrument. After 2 years active duty, he served 4 more years in the reserves.
Larry met the love of his life, Carolee Ann Gewecke at the age of 10 in Exeter. They officially started dating as juniors in high school and eloped on August 15, 1960 in Fayetteville, NC. In 1961, they moved to Lincoln, NE where they began their growing family. Daughters Carrie and Elizabeth (Beth) were born in Lincoln. Soon after, they moved to the Omaha area where daughters Kimberly (Kim) and Aimee and only son Keith were born. They raised their family in Ralston NE and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on August 15, 2023.
Larry was an excellent salesman in his early career working in the paint and floor covering industries. Later he moved into management positions in floor coverings and granite countertops. At the age of 67, he entered into a well-deserved retirement.
Larry had several hobbies that he loved. He was a competitive ballroom dancer and instructor. He held a black belt in karate and enjoyed teaching the neighborhood boys in his garage and backyard. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and in his retirement picked up a paper quilling hobby.
