Trooper Kyle McAcy is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and peers for his magnetic personality, sharp sense of humor, and unapologetic authenticity. He lived life passionately, fearlessly, and was always ready with a smile and a witty comeback. Kyle was fiercely dedicated to his family, friends, and career; few approached life with more enthusiasm and dedication to service. He was always first in line to volunteer his help wherever and whenever possible both in the line of duty and in his personal life.

Kyle was born in Omaha, Nebraska, the youngest of three children. He attended Millard West High School where he was a part of the Omaha Police Department Explorers and went on to graduate from Metropolitan Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He turned his passion for law enforcement into a career first with Frontline Security and then with the Nebraska State Patrol, where he graduated from the Grand Island Training Academy in May 2015. His career started in North Platte in the Carrier Division and continued as he transferred to Omaha, working Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. In 2022 he transferred to the Omaha Patrol Division, where he served the Troop A community until his death.

During his decade-long career Kyle served as a firearms instructor, a member of the mobile field force unit, and as a crisis negotiator. He provided off-duty security to multiple local businesses, using his quick wit and incredible charisma to make lifelong friends. He had a special spot in his heart for the friends he made at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.

There are no words to describe his love for his family, both blood and blue. He was well known for his candor and sense of adventure, never shying away from a dare or a challenge. Kyle took every opportunity to learn new skills, especially if it meant he could use them to teach others. He loved to share stories about his experiences and never failed to mention his obsession with sloths.

Kyle will be remembered as a faithful public servant who never apologized for being himself. He was a friend to everyone and touched countless lives. His death leaves a void that will never be filled and he will be missed dearly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

While writing an obituary for someone so young in their life and career evokes a deep and unfathomable sadness, we will bond together in our heartbreak. We will continue his legacy of loving others and serving the public with integrity, professionalism, and kindness by asking ourselves everyday "what would Kyle do?"

Kyle is survived by his parents Teresa and Kevin McAcy; brother Collin (Briana) McAcy; sister Bethany McAcy (Garrett Perry); and fiancé Spencer Ryan. He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, NE, from 8:30-5:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena, 7300 Q Street, Omaha, NE. Prior to the service, there will be a law enforcement procession.
