Sep 2, 1957 - Jul 3, 2015,
Keith was a local family business man who owned and operated Southwest Mechanical Inc. for over 20 years with his wife at his side, and was in the heating and air-conditioning field for over 35 years. He was born and raised in Omaha. He was an avid hunter and fisher. He would share stories of how he would get to spend summers up at his grandfather’s cabin in Canada and fish or how he would and friends would sneak into a nearby private lake that had great fishing on their bikes until local authorities would catch them. He was very much a family man, who passed on a legacy of kindness, support and determination. As a local business man, he didn't believe in creating a huge enterprise. He believed in providing the best service by keeping customers treated fairly and honestly. He established a lot of personal relationships with his customers. He worked up until his death. He also loved collecting Allis-Chalmers tractors and related equipment. He loved show casing his tractors and military vehicles in Elkhorn Valley tractor club shows or local town parades. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and showed such delight and interest in them. They were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife, Jenny; daughter, Jeanna Samson; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Eugenia, and Thomas and Laura; grandchildren, Kaylee and Tyler Sampson, Genenien, Siena, Wyatt Keith Robert, Callie, and Brynlee Smith; parents, Robert L. and Carmen Ann (Specht) Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leann and Bill Crowe, and Karmie and David Coughlin; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Pamela Smith; mother-in-law, Jean Combs; loyal companion, Gracie; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews.
