Karen Jean Newhouse

An only child, Karen was born in Falls City, Nebraska to Arthur John and Opal Alice Schneidewind on July 13, 1938. She graduated from Falls City High School in 1956 and moved to Omaha with a friend to work at Mutual of Omaha in the typing pool. She was introduced to Gordon Hugh Newhouse through a coworker.

Karen and Gordon married October 19, 1958. They had many adventures through their early years of marriage as Gordon was a captain in the USAF. Some of their happiest times were in England from 1964-1967.

After Gordon retired, they settled in Omaha where they lived in the same house in Dundee for more than 50 years.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jennifer. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gordon, and their children Kristin, John and Valerie (Scott Hill) and grandchildren.

A visitation for Karen will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, Nebraska. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home. The service will be followed by burial at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 2300 South 78th Street, Omaha. A luncheon at First Christian Church, 6630 Dodge Street, Omaha, will follow the burial.
