John Baratta Sr. April 3, 1951- March 2, 2020 Preceded in death by his father, James J.; mother Katherine (Hoskinson) and sister Debra K. (Baratta) Graham. Survived by his wife Priscilla (Romer) and children; John Jr. (Heidi), Jeremy (Nicole), Gina (William) Rose, Jessica (Aaron) Nepper, Kylie (Andrew) Russell, Jaimee, twenty-one grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many other family and friends. John was born in Omaha, NE and enjoyed playing football all four years of his high school career. In his early adulthood he had his own construction business and then went to work with his father at the family’s restaurant’s; the famous Stockade restaurant in Millard, Baratta’s, and WB’s located in Omaha. He loved working along his father and most of all loved all the patrons that they served. Of all things he will be remembered most by his ability to spark up a conversation with anyone and always found a way to lighten the mood and put a smile on anyone’s face.
In 1998 he moved to Las Vegas to enjoy his retirement where he loved golfing. It was in Las Vegas that he met Priscilla. John and Priscilla were united in marriage in 2016. He and Priscilla were avid Vegas Knights hockey fans and he will always be remembered as their “Hulkamania.” They found great joy in traveling around the United States to cheer on their Knights. John also loved to Uber the tourists of Las Vegas around in his beloved Tesla. He would often tell stories of all the different people he would meet through Uber and enjoyed sharing his love for Las Vegas with everyone.
Aside from time spent following his hockey team, John also loved spending time with friends and family. He and Priscilla would often entertain their friends at their beautiful home where John enjoyed showing off his cooking skills. Most of all John loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Monday August 24th, 2020 10 am at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park. John’s family welcomes you to join them afterwards at Anthony’s Steakhouse (7220 F St. Omaha) from 11-3p.
