Jindra was born November 1, 1946 in Eger, Czechoslovakia. Following the war, the family moved to Germany, where Jindra temporarily stayed with her grandparents, in Ludwigsberg. In 1960 she was reunited with her parents Adalbert and Hannelore Hevrdeys, who had immigrated to the United States and settled in Omaha NE.
Jindra attended seventh and eighth grades at St. Philip Neri School in Omaha, and high school at Notre Dame Academy.
Upon graduation, she began employment at National Indemnity Insurance Company.
On November 18, 1967, Jindra was united in marriage to John Paul Rinker at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Together they raised four children: Glenn Russell Rinker, Tina Marie Rinker-Schmidt, Michael John Rinker, and Mark Daniel Rinker.
Jindra loved being a homemaker raising their children. She had many interests and was involved in a variety of activities…sewing, cooking/baking, crafts, scrap booking of photo albums, writing articles for a square dance newsletter, and gardening. She enjoyed being active with playing tennis, badminton, ping pong, square dancing, singing in the church choir and traveling. She was an avid collector of thimbles, Hummels, souvenir teaspoons and movies.
The Rinker family moved to Houston, TX in 1987 due to a job relocation. Following John’s retirement from British Petroleum, the returned to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area in 2013 to again be closer to family.
Jindra treasured her time spent with her two grandsons, Nicholas and Tyler Schmidt. She also had a strong love for nature and animals.
In November 2017, Jindra and John would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Age 70 of Council Bluffs, Iowa died Sunday the 11th of June 2017 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer along with Huntington Disease.
Preceded in death by her father Adalbert Hevrdeys. Survived by loving husband of 49 years, John Rinker. Son Glenn Rinker, daughter Tina (Dean) Schmidt, sons Michael Rinker and Mark (Amber) Rinker. Mother Hannelore Smallfield (Hevrdeys), sister Helen (George) Smallfield, brother William (Melissa) Hevrdeys, sister, Sylvia Hevrdeys, brother Gerald (Cheryl) Hevrdeys. Grandsons Nicholas and Tyler Schmidt and various other family members.
Memorial Service Monday June 19th at 9:30 am St. Stephen The Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 S. St. Omaha. Interment Tuesday June 20 at 2:00 pm Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd. Omaha.
