Joe, age 62, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Omaha, NE on December 16, 1961. Joe joined the US Army at age 17 and served for 8 years. After marrying the love of his life in 1985, they went on to have 3 children. Joe took great pride in his duties as a federal police officer for Veteran Affairs. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed spending time riding his Harley, and was an avid Husker fan. Joe was recognized as “Bompa” by his grandchildren whom he loved spending time with. Holidays, especially Christmas, were some of his favorite times with family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patti; son, Nick (Lindsey); daughter, Tricia (Adam) Shaw; granddaughters, Tatum, Maci, Pyper, Layni, and Addy; grandson, Mav; mother, Karen (Harry) Mill; sister, Suzi (Scott) Klingemann; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Humphrey and Cindy Crossway; brother-in-law, Bob (Sandy) Humphrey; many nieces and nephews; other siblings, Paul (Melanie), Lori, Brian (Kristi), Corinna (Vince), Donna (Frank), and Jim (Jodie); and many friends. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Fred; Grandpa and Grandma Richter; uncles, Jerry and Dan; in-laws, Bob and Carol Humphrey; and brothers-in-law, Denny and Jerry.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 4th, 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 5th at 10 am. All services at Westlawn-Hillcrest.
