Jake went to be with the lord and his family and friends at the age of 94 years and 5 months.
Jake was born August 30, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was one of 4 children born to George and Emily Citta.
He married Geraldine Bird on July 30, 1951. Together they had 3 children; Susan, Rosemary, and Jacob Jr. (Jim).
He is preceded in death by: his parents George and Emily, 2 brothers George and Ernie, and 1 sister Alice Burton.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Bird) Citta, daughters; Susan Citta and Rosemary (Citta) Steffen (Ken), Sons Jacob James Citta Jr. (Debbie), 2 granddaughters; Ashley (Steffen) South (Chris), Samantha (Citta) Sale (Jeramie), grandson Jacob James Citta III (Cecilia), step-grandson Ryan Steffen and family, great grandson David James Citta.
Jake attended grade school at a little country school "Prairie Center".
He worked hard all of his life. After the 8th grade he worked for the family business (Citta Greenhouse). He also worked many other jobs a cattle feeder, heavy equipment operator, and more.
Jake joined the Navy in 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict on the USS Orion as a submarine tender.
Jake enjoyed the outdoors, would rather be outside than inside. He loved hunting and fishing with his son Jim, grandson Cobby Citta, and granddaughter Samantha Citta-Sale.
He loved his big garden. Every year he shared the vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors.
Jake was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
He would talk to anyone who would listen to him, anywhere in the country. He loved people. He was a very patriotic man and loved his country.
Jake loved his family very much.
