Born on June 15, 1940, to Frank and Gladys Shearer in Omaha, Nebraska. Gladys Irene grew up in Omaha and graduated from South High School. She had a career as an office assistant, working for the Swift Packing Plant, Winter Bros. Trucking, AMRE and Florence Drug.
Irene was married to Roy Yeck during which time she was blessed with two daughters, Marsha and Susan. As a single mother, she devoted her time, attention and love to raising her daughters. Always a humble servant of the Lord, Irene gave glory to God for her accomplishments. She loved her sister, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and her church family.
Irene entered the Church Triumphant on December 25, 2023, peacefully with her daughters at her side.
Irene will be missed by her daughters Marsha Behr (Galen) and Susan Houseman (Stephen); grandchildren Adam (Kelly), Jared (Rachel), and Hayley; sister Kristine Barkus (Tom), nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20th, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 7301 N. 28th Ave., Omaha, NE, with a luncheon and visitation to follow.
