Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Marie Nielsen; infant daughter, Melodi; daughter, Tammi Nielsen; brother, Arnold Nielsen; and ex-wife, Dolores Nielsen. He is survived by his children, Valeri (Chris) Wagner, Candyce (David) Brame, and Jeffrey Nielsen; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Fred served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and the Navy after that. He was a long-time carpet salesman. Anyone that knew Fred knew he was an ace gardener and loved taking care of the Leavenworth Community Garden. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 10 - 11 am, with a Celebration of Life at 11 am and Inurnment to follow. All services will be at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
