Beth was born to Larry and Carolee Schneider in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 2, 1964. She was raised in Ralston and graduated from Ralston High School in 1982 with honors.
She attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln before moving back to Omaha and graduating with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Beth’s first marriage blessed her with daughter Lindsay in 1986 and son Jake in 1988. Soon after, she met her soul mate Jamie Schmidt at her workplace in Omaha. They dated four years, and were married at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in May of 1996.
Beth’s insatiable appetite for education and training eventually led her to a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Adult Learning and Organizational Leadership from Drake University. She completed this degree while also working full time and splitting the duties of raising five children, as Jamie and Beth had welcomed triplets Sierra, Sydney, and Gunnar to their home in April in 2002.
She was passionate about the Information Technology field and Agile Business Methodology, Beth also stressed diversity and inclusivity in the workplace during her very accomplished professional career.
Above her professional career, Beth loved family more than anything else. They travelled extensively, from camping trips to Yellowstone and Minnesota, to Hawaii and Cozumel. From campfires and trout streams to oceanside beaches and Nashville bars, Beth cherished all her time with family.
Beth’s first diagnosis of Metastatic Breast Cancer came in late 2019. Through over a dozen surgical procedures, endless chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and hundreds of pills and medicines, she never lost her positive attitude and amazing smile. Her involvement with Project Pink’d developed many strong friendships, and support that kept her “dancing in the rain.”
Beth is survived by her Mother Carolee A. Schneider; husband Jamie Schmidt; children Lindsay (Matt) Shanon; Jake Pearson; Sierra Schmidt; Sydney Schmidt; Gunnar Schmidt; Mother-in-law Karen Schmidt and Father-in-Law Dennis Schmidt; siblings Carrie (Mark) Jorgensen; Kimberly (John) Brockhaus; Aimee (Paul) Curran; Keith (Becky) Schneider; Brother-in-law Denny (Penny) Schmidt; and grandchildren Kade Shanon and Violet Jo Shanon. She was preceded in death by her father Larry Schneider.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
