Duane Orson Herod

Duane lived in Guyana for a portion of his childhood before returning to New York where he graduated high school in 2001. He pursued a career in Information Technology after graduation. He was always fascinated with computers, how they worked and loved the challenge of fixing and building them. Duane married Amy on February 3rd, and together they built a loving home. He was the proud father of two wonderful boys, Jayden and Kristian, as well as a fur parent to the family dogs. He enjoyed many happy years watching his sons grow, enjoying baseball and football games, and many other events his boys participated in. He also enjoyed volunteering as a Scout Leader to Troop and Pack 60 in Papillion, where his sons are members.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Amy, his two sons, Jayden and Kristian Herod, and the loving family dog, Bean. He is also survived by his brothers, Troy Herod, Dexter Herod, and his sister Claudia Weekes, all from Texas, his Aunt Brenda Herod, Uncle Charles Gray, father-in-law Myron Hellmann, Sister-in-laws Amanda (Joe) Brittnacher, Kim (Blake) Leisner, brother-in-laws Clint (Rebecca) Reed, Grant (Kim) Reed, and Allen Reed all from Wisconsin, as well as many nieces and nephews, other family members and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Carmen Herod (Stephens), brother John Herod, nephew Jonathon Weekes, mother-in-laws Susan Hellmann and Marlene Hellmann, and loving dogs Angel and Jackson.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Emerald Nursing and Rehab Mercy for taking care of Duane, DCI Dialysis Center, and the hospital and surgical staff at Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy for all the wonderful care while he was hospitalized.
