Donald E Carter, 88, of Lincoln, NE passed away on September 26,2017 at home in Hospice. Born December 1, 1928 to Ray and Minnie Carter in Omaha, NE. He was baptized in Omaha and then spent his childhood in Milwaukee where he was confirmed. He returned to Omaha and attended Benson High School.
In 1946, Don enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Kumomoto, Japan where he served with the 24th division of the 21st Infantry Anti Tank Company/Victory Division. In 1950, he married Sue (Kintner) and they had 2 sons, Jim and Doug. Don owned and operated the Conoco service Station on 17th and Van Dorn until 1959. He joined Precision Bearing in 1960 and started the Lincoln branch. He became Vice President of Material Handling and then Corporate Sales Manager in 1975. He retired in 1995. Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Mason for 60 years, an avid cornhusker football fan, wood carver, upholsterer and handyman. He loved his country, family, friends and dachshunds. He is survived by his loving wife Sue of 67 years. Children James (Kathy) Carter and Douglas (Jane Ann) Carter; grandchildren Chad (Erin) Carter Candace (Ty) Huebert, Taylor, Trenton, Dalton and Caroline Carter and 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Gene Carter and sister June Henshaw.
