“Life gives us memories that neither death nor distance can erase.” Our beautiful Diane entered into her final rest peacefully on Monday, April 17th, 2023 after a hard eight-month battle with cancer; but she left us all with wonderful memories to keep her alive with us for a lifetime.
Our sweet Diane had a contagious laugh that could fill a room. If she was laughing, so were you. Diane spent her whole life lighting up whatever room she entered. She wasn’t shy in the slightest, and whether it be singing, dancing, or simply bringing her fun spirit to the conversation, you knew Diane was there. She spent 32 years working at the Post Office where she made many of what she called her “ride or die” friends. Diane proudly retired from the Post Office at the age of 56, and she got to spend her final 6 years making new friends, spending time with her family, watching her daily shows, traveling to many places on her bucket list in her new car (that she named “Maggie May – The Man Magnet” after her favorite beloved Rod Stewart’s song), and arguably the most important, loving on her sweet dog, Lucy.
Diane had the kindest, most generous soul; and her countless supporters are a testament to that character.
Diane is survived by her daughter Madison (Derek); dog Lucy; siblings Carol, Darlene (Fran), Donnie, Dennis, Nancy (Buzz), Barb, Juanita (Larry), Debi (Bob), and Rick (Linda); countless nieces, nephews, and so very many friends that she considered her family.
Diane is preceded in death by her mother Helena, father Smoky, siblings Tommy, Bertha (Jake), and Richard; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Please join us in honoring Diane’s life with a visitation on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 5-8pm and/or funeral service on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10am. To follow the service, a graveside burial will take place at the Little Sioux Cemetery in Little Sioux, Iowa with a luncheon at the Nealy Hall in Little Sioux right after.
