Preceded in death by father, Kenneth E. Hamblen; and grandparents, Elmer and Lorene Jessen, and Aaron and Zola Hamblen.
Survived by loving partner, Charles Moore; daughters, Michaela (Jeff) Turgeon and Elizabeth (TJ) Fidone; son, Richard (Brittany) Simon; mother, LaMae Hamblen; brother, Jerry (Tonia) Hamblen and family; sister, Cynthia Hamblen and family; brother, Jeff (Wendy) Hamblen and family; and many other relatives and friends.
Cheryl was born in Denison, Iowa. The family moved to Omaha in 1961. She attended schools in Omaha until she graduated from Omaha South High School. After completing nurse training, Cheryl went to work for a Nursing Home. Cheryl worked there for many years and loved her job. She also did private duty/home nursing.
Cheryl was a very loving and caring person. Very diligent on helping people. Cheryl developed vision problems and had to retire from nursing.
Cheryl attended Nebraska School for the blind in Lincoln for a year where she learned skills. Cheryl could cross 7 lanes of traffic with a white cane by listening to the clicks on the traffic lights. Cheryl would always speak up if anyone was mistreated and would be an advocate for them. Cheryl continued to be an advocate in Lincoln until an illness forced her to be hospitalized.
