Carol Gutchewsky, age 77 of Omaha, NE passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9th, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 17, 1944 in Omaha, NE, daughter of Jesse Lantz and Helen Dutton. Carol graduated from South High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Gutchewsky in July of 1965. Together they raised their four daughters.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, bowling, and volunteering at St. Gerald’s church. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas D. Gutchewsky; daughter, Deanna (John Grund) and their 7 children: Jessica Caniglia (Steven) Jonathan (Kayla) and their two children AnnaBella and Giovanni, Twins- Denay and Amy, Gabrielle, Michaela and Samantha Eleanor. Michele (Vito Dacchille) and their three daughters; Ella, Ava and Lucy. Jill Gutchewsky (Matt Godleski) and son, Maxx, and Jennifer (Todd Whitehouse) and two sons, Jack and Sam.
Preceded in death by her parents- Jesse and Helen Lantz, brother, Bernie Missine, and sister, Delores Lantz. Survived by siblings Dean Lantz, Katherine Lantz, Jean Slater, and Fred Lantz and many loving nieces and nephews.
After raising her young daughters, Carol worked at Oriental Trading for 26 years where she retired and enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren. Carol’s favorite trip included traveling with Tom to Branson to attend the show boat cruises and Dolly Parton stampede. They also enjoyed vacations to Arizona and Colorado and many cruises.
Carol is remembered by her family for her loving heart, generosity and willingness to do anything for her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and giving grandmother.
VISITATION Wednesday, September 14th from 5:00-8:00pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, with ROSARY to begin at 7:30pm. FUNERAL MASS Thursday, September 15th at 10:00am St. Gerald’s Parish (9602 Q Street), with BURIAL to follow at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow the burial at St. Gerald's Parish.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and Saint Gerald’s Parish.
