Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, and his son Bruce.
He is survived by daughter Susan (Richard) Kropp of Ralston, son Clark (Lijuan) Ramsey of Shawnee, KS, and grandchildren Ken (Susie) Kropp of Peoria, AZ, Shelley (Trevor) Sheets of Papillion, Christopher Ramsey who attends UCLA, and Alyson Ramsey who attends The Stevens Institute of Technology in NJ. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Ada and Blake Kropp, and Adele Sheets. Carl is also survived by his half-brother Harvey (Carol) Ramsey of Battle Ground, WA. Also several nieces and nephews.
Carl graduated from Hamburg High School in 1947. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Omaha and took a job at On-Time Transfer Co. as a bookkeeper. He attended Omaha University and eventually took an online course and earned an accounting degree. He was also employed at Beal Terminix, the Woodmen Circle Insurance Co., and lastly, Continental General Insurance Co., where he worked for 30 years and was Treasurer and CFO. He retired in May, 1995 after 48 years in the business world. After retirement he volunteered as Treasurer of Westminster Presbyterian Church, which he did for 15 years. Carl loved collecting coins, clocks, watches and miniature autos. He was also an avid reader. He was very generous with his time, talents and treasure. He loved his family so much and will be greatly missed by all. We lost one of the “oldies but goodies”.
A visitation for Carl will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Carl will be laid to rest in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
