Byron O. Baldwin of Papillion, NE passed away on July 9, 2021. Byron was born in Omaha, NE on September 28, 1948 to Allison and Iola (Brown) Baldwin. Byron graduated from Omaha North High School in 1968 and went on to serve in the Navy in the Vietnam War. Byron also served in the Army Reserves.
Bryon married Mary Margaret (Gannon) in 1970. They have four children, Robert Baldwin of Omaha, Jeremy Baldwin of Omaha, Shannon (Martin) Thies of Waterloo, IA and Benjamin (Alison) Baldwin of Omaha. The Baldwin’s were active members of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church while living in South Omaha. Byron retired as a stationary engineer from OPPD (mainly based out of the North Omaha Plant) in 2003. Earlier in that same year, Byron and Mary moved to Papillion.
Byron spent the majority of his retirement helping his neighbors and friends with various projects and enjoying his family and grandkids. He was known to have a big heart and would give help to anyone in need. After the flooding of the Platte River in 2017, Byron was helpful in clearing out trees, brush and driftwood at Schmid Park with his friends, David & Lois Thies.
Byron is survived by his sister, Wanda (Bruce) Phillips of Omaha, his children and grandchildren – Cody, Marah, Jacob, Brittany, Joshua, Andrew, Kinley and Ainsley. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Mary Margaret.
