Our LOVE Story-
Barbara and I were destined to be married even though neither of us knew it.
Barb and I grew up a mere seven blocks apart. Both of us went to the same grade school and high school. Barb used to frequent Bogard’s drugstore at 33rd & California. My older brother was a soda jerk at Bogard’s and my first job was delivering medicine on my new bicycle for 30 cents an hour. I thought I was Warren Buffet! When I would ride my bicycle home from grade school I would pass in front of Barbs parents’ house.
There was 9 years difference in our ages, so we never connected until later in life. Barb was a pet groomer at her parent’s shop, Harry Watts Pet O’ Mine. I would bring my father’s dog in to be groomed and I was always impressed by Barb’s beauty and personality.
After Barbs divorce, I took a chance and asked her out. After a mere four dates, I realized she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. The rest is history! We were blessed to be able to have 40 years of married life together. Between the two of us we had 10 wonderful children, 8 of which are still living. The Lord also blessed us with 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Even though Barb is gone she’ll continue to live on in the hearts of all that loved and knew her. As for me, I’m anxiously looking forward to the day when I can be at her side once again! Until then, remember Barb, I loved only two women in my life- my mother and you!!!
Until we meet again, your husband always- Dan.
