Ann Elizabeth Newman

Ann Elizabeth (Pierson) Newman was born on July 15, 1953 in Atlantic Iowa to Donald and June Pierson of Oakland Iowa. Ann played basketball and played flute in band in high school. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1971. She attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville Missouri for 2 years and then moved to Omaha and was employed by the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she worked for over 35 years until retiring in 2015. Ann received her bachelor degree in business and accounting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Ann and Dennis were married in Oakland Iowa on October 1, 1983. Ann loved pets as she first had 2 white rats and then we had a total of 4 dogs over time. Ann loved watching and attending football games and attended Husker football games where we had season tickets until we had to give them up. Ann loved listening to country music and her favorite group was the Statler Brothers. Ann enjoyed bowling. Ann belonged to Eastern Star for 39 years. She was Worthy Matron 2 times with Liberty Chapter (now Narcissus) and 4 times with Adah Chapter and was a Grand Representative to Oklahoma in 1986-88. Over the last 13 years Ann had several serious health issues which curtailed doing most of what she loved doing.

Ann died on August 4, 2020 and was survived by her husband Dennis, and was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and June Pope Pierson and by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 4 - 7 pm with Eastern Star Service at 6 pm. Funeral Service will be Monday, August 10, 2020 at 10 am and Interment to follow. All services at Westlawn-Hillcrest.
