Andrew James Diamond, born September 25, 1987, passed on the early morning of April 2, 2023. Andrew was born in La Mesa California and lived there for the first year of his life, moving to Hampton Virginia for the next 8 years, and then to Omaha Nebraska. He attended Westside Church and Burke High School, where he was involved in J.R.O.T.C. program, diving, wrestling, and culinary. After high school, he studied Culinary Arts in Omaha and Vail, CO. While working in Vail, he worked his way from line cook to sous chef. He discovered he loved the mountains and snowboarding. He returned to Omaha in August of 2021.
Andrew loved to cook, make people happy, and laugh. He enjoyed watching any kind of sport, especially Dallas Cowboys, Nebraska Husker football, and Kentucky Wildcat basketball. His one big bucket list item was to be at the 18th hole of the Masters Golf Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Andrew is survived by his parents Carl and Carolyn Diamond of Omaha NE, sister Jessica (Roger) Fitzwater and nieces Sarah, Abigail, and Heather Gilbert AZ. and sister Rebecca (Brian) Dimmick Bellevue, NE, He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Therese Diamond and Eugene and Mary Sue Riley.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the family who will present the gift to the Burke JROTC program.
A memorial visitation for Andrew will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
