Dr. William “Bil” Stanfill, 83, made the transition from his Hernando, MS home to his Heavenly Eternal Home on 21 March 2022. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Stanfill’s Optometric practice was in Leland, MS for 48 years. Bil was a past President of MS Optometric Association, graduate of Southern College of Optometry. Other education included coursework at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville and Martin), University of Memphis, University of Mississippi, and Chester County High School class of ’57 in Henderson, TN, where he was active in numerous sports: football, basketball and gymnastics. Bil’s many interests included traveling, fishing, hunting, reading, gardening, being with his family, and making new friends wherever his Christian faith could be shared. Cherishing Bil’s memory is his spouse of 59 years, Shirley Reynolds Stanfill; their 3 Sons: William (Vera) Stanfill, Stephen (Nancy) Stanfill, Richard (Stefanie) Stanfill; 10 Grandchildren: Nicholas Onder, Timothy (Cristie) Onder, Hanah Stanfill, Sarah Stanfill, Emma Stanfill, Lauren Stanfill, Jonathan Stanfill, Mabry (Zachary) Stanfill, Abbey Stanfill, and Coleman Stanfill; and 4 Great-Grandchildren: Jordon Onder, Milo Onder, Neyla Onder, and Colton Sobuh; and Sister Linda Stanfill Hamm. Bil was preceded in homegoing by his parents, Newton Bailey Stanfill and Mary Faye Stanfill and by their grandson, Joshua Stanfill. Memorials for Dr. William Stanfill may be sent to Lake Forest Ranch of Macon, MS, Compel Church of Southaven, MS, Samaritan’s Purse of Boone, NC or to Southern College of Optometry of Memphis, TN. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 12-2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Henderson City Cemetery in Henderson, TN.
