William “Bill” David Lloyd, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven, Ms. He was born on January 9, 1933 to the late John and Polly Lloyd in Memphis, TN.
Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal. Following a fulfilling 30-year career as an Electrician Installer, he retired and immersed himself in his passion for radios and computers, dedicating a workshop to his interests. Bill was also a dedicated Boy Scout leader for 15 years. A committed member of Longview Heights Baptist Church, he actively served as a greeter and in the security detail. In his free time, Bill could often be found engaged with his iPad, a testament to his love for technology. Above all, he cherished spending quality time with his family, who were the center of his life.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Polly Lloyd, and three siblings, Claire McConnell, Nancy Luttrell, and Parker Lloyd.
He leaves behind the love of his life for 67 years, Joan Lloyd; three children, Steve Lloyd (Lynda), David Lloyd (Sonja), and John Lloyd (Len). Bill also leaves behind five grandchildren: John Lloyd (Leslie), Jesse Lloyd, Nicole Lloyd Bostick (Clyde), Jacquelyn Ann Lloyd, John Michael Lloyd, and 12 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Longview Heights Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm at Longview Heights Baptist Church, 4501 Goodman Rd. Olive Branch, Ms 38654. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119.
