Steve Nichols, 60, of Olive Branch, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 28, 2011, after a vigilant and courageous battle with cancer. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m., all at Immanuel Baptist Church in Olive Branch. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Steve retired from the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office and was currently working with Advanced Toxicology Network. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the DeSoto County Republican Party Executive Committee. He was a passionate gardener, avid outdoorsman, and Ole Miss Rebel fan. Steve was a dedicated and loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, and friend. He had a true servant’s heart, always willing to help wherever there was a need. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Dunn Nichols. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Cindy Harrison Nichols; his son, Andy Nichols; his father, Harold Nichols (Gwen); 2 brothers, Sammy Nichols (Diana) and Phelan Nichols (Traci); devoted special caregivers, Aunt Laura Dunn Powell, Mike Duncan, and Milton Nichols; and many other special family and friends.
